Family Fun

We've just returned home from an enjoyable visit to New Hampshire. We were able to participate in the Family Convention at Fairwood and visit with friends and family. Ethan was happily occupied every day with a great variety of structured and non-structured activities. When we got home, I asked him what his favorite part of being at Fairwood. He said, "The basketball hoop!" He also enjoyed 'swimming' in Dublin lake, and running in his first race ever!

Our trip home, which is still fresh in my memory, was somewhat torturous. We decided to spread it out over two days because on our drive out we drove through the night and none of us slept well. The trip back wouldn't have been too bad except for the weather. Just strip your car of all modern amenities, except for power locks and windows and drive for hours in 90 something degree heat with a cranky, fussing child. Our Jeep has an unnaturally loud engine which increases at high speeds. Add to that the noise of the whipping wind from open windows. Conversation became an impossibility. We had to shout repeatedly at each other, whether we wanted to or not. And believe me, I wanted to.

But our visit was certainly worth any misery on the road and it was great to see so many people, even if individual visits were short.

Will update our Webshots page with new pictures soon.

I feel your pain, Liane. Sometimes days with toddlers can be torturous without adding a long trip in a hot, noisy car to the "mix." How cool to have gone to Fairwood. Wish I could have joined you there!

Ooh Liane. I can imagine that trip only toooo well! While living in FL, we didn't always have AC in our dilapitated vehicles, and even though our engine didn't "hum" like your jeep's, the wide open windows made sensible communication very difficult and left me exhausted at the end of many trips. Now at the ancient age of 57, I need AC even more, so much so that I cry and plead and balk if ever we have to make a long trip to a hot climate in one of our vehicles with a malfunctioning AC! At least I kind of did that once. . .! But Neil did fix it before our trip. . .not cause I had a holy fit, but because he really loves me!!

Of course the implication above is that Keith really doesn't love Liane. He probably just brought her along on the trip to entertain Ethan and he rigged the whole lack of air conditioning so she couldn't yell at him. JUST KIDDING! I'm glad you guys had a nice time.
