My first pair of mittens! Pattern from Weekend Knitting...probably a project that should take a night or two, I've been working on it for weeks, knitting a round or two when I get a minute. The yarn is actually a very light greenish, celery color which is hard to tell from the picture.

I feel a little better about my knitting troubles, knowing that you haven't tackled a mitten until now. I managed to complete one and a quarter in high school ( with my Grandmother's help ), but then my hurt foot healed and I never finished the pair. Now I'm trying to finish the second one and have already run afoul of the thumb. It's on the way to being a class A flop. My pathetically basic knitting skills just aren't cutting it... Hope you're having better success, but then, you are obviously in a different league! Anyway, do let us see the finished product... and in the meantime, I love the celery color!
Be of good courage---Try and try again... ...that's what ol' 'Lanche's been mumbling as we mosey up the trail this mornin'...
Say! Who all are they for? You? One of your boys? Poppa? ...a-speakin' fer myself, I'd prefer leather gloves with lotsa warm fuzzy linin' in 'em. They hold up soooo much better fer the ranch work and still keep my ol' mits warm in the winter time... ...thet there celery color surely looks pretty though...
oh my, who is this cowpokey? Is this another one of Ryu's identities? Ka-sizzle and all that?
Nope, not me. I know who he is, but promised not to divulge his identity until he goes public. You know[of] him anyway. Claire might be able to fill you in a little...
If you ain't quite figured out who I am yet---I'm yore youngest sis's husband's poppa... ...I just love the big wide open spaces of the west... ...and there ain't nothin' pokey about me and ol' 'Lanche---last thing a feller wants to do is offend his hoss... ...I admit to bein' fond of sittin' in my front porch rocker a-soakin' up the warm sunshine though... 8~)
Aha! The mystery is solved! I think perhaps your wife would do a much better job stitching some mittens for you, leather or otherwise!
