I thought that was keith in the picture with some of his friends, i just looked at the link to knitty. Boy do i feel dumb.
I like the second pictures' hats...I can't decide which color I like best.
But BRAD likes blue. :)

solid colors are always good. Keep it simple and the guy can't complain :-)
I also vote for the one in the second picture, from knitty. The olive one would be my choice. The main drawback is that it doesn't pull down over the ears. Don't know how others feel, but my knit hats HAVE to cover at least part of my ears.
Second choice is the first link you posted after that second picture. I like it about as much as the first one.
Maybe more, because after looking again, it does cover part of the ears.
