Pseudo suede knitting

Hanging out in the preschool line at Ethan's school, I noticed one of the cutest baby hats ever, worn by a friend's little girl. When I found the pattern online, I filed it away for future making. One of Keith's co-workers is about to have a baby any day now so I found the perfect excuse for yet another baby hat.

This hat really needs to be made with specific novelty yarn to achieve that suede/fleecy lining look. 100% nylon---ick! Working with it was a little like fingernails on a chalkboard. The yarn even squeaked as I knit. Also, the pattern was one size only and I'm certainly not brave enough to try modifying that. It's definitely too big for a newborn but I figured better too big than too small. I'ts all good because I think you'll agree this is one cute hat.

Of course I had to attempt a modeling session with Drew:

A not very good time was had by all. I was determined to get a decent shot and Drew was determined to keep this awful thing off his head. Maybe he doesn't like synthetic fibers either.

LOVE the second picture.

This hat: guaranteed to make your child wail like a banshee.

And you know what they say about the squeaky nylon - it gets the fleece! (Or it IS the fleece?) Oh, ohhhh...I'm so sorry...painfully baaaad joke.

It is a VERY cute hat.

Very cute hat, and worth it even though Drew is going to have to go through therapy after all these modeling sessions.

Oops, didnt mean to post annonymous, tried again...

I am so excited, I even feel a little bit "famous" for the mention as it is MY baby girl that wore this hat. It was her big brothers and we call it the "cousin eddie hat." You did a GREAT rendition and I am sure my mother will be thrilled that someone loved one of her hats so much. See you at preschool, Paige told me all about her chat with "Mrs. Efans mom."
