Won't Painted Jaguar be surprised?

One of our main sources of entertainment growing up were stories on tape which we would listen to and quote ad nauseam. A favorite was a collection of Kipling's Just so Stories, many of which were read by Jan H, whose inflections and unique style I can still hear when I read these stories today.

I've been wanting to make this little guy from my favorite Japanese craft book for a while. Although he is not quite the stickly-prickly hedgehog from the Beginning of the Armadilloes, he reminds me of the story. Entirely impractical with tiny, hand-stitching required this guy was a little bit tedious. I will probably never attempt such a small, picky project again at least for a while but it was good practice.
