Our front door is dark brown and I've discovered, sadly, that wreaths disappear on it. A few days ago, as I paged through an old MS Kids magazine, looking for some valentine inspiration, I spied a solution:
A white wreath! Made of white pom-poms! Which Keith thought were cotton balls but never mind. I thought it looked like a cute idea and a cheap one. And simple. Just cut out a cardboard circle and glue the pom-poms on. The kids were not that interested in helping out this time. With one notable exception.
Do you see what I see? If you happen to look down at any given moment in my life in the past, oh, seventeen months or so, this is the sight that would greet you. Add to this a loud, insistent cry and the hurling of a small body to the floor every few minutes and you get the picture. Just in case you don't, I've made it easier for you:
This is why I need quick and easy. And preferably mindless. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. Keith admitted it looked ok but said it just wasn't me. "Too girly." I'm not sure whether I should be insulted.
I'm having some doubts about whether it's supposed to be a front door thing. From a distance, say the road in front of our house, it looks a little like cotton balls.

Oh, I think it's really darling! I love the birds and the few white flowers. I guess they do look like cotton balls, but not the "swab a knee wound" kind. More like the old fashioned "powder your face" kind! Er...I hope that sounds better...
I think it looks like you killed some white baby bunnies and used the fur to make a wreath. Sort of a Martha Stewart meets Sarah Palin type of rabbit's foot charm. Your entire household will no doubt have good luck for as long as it adorns the door.
The wreath turned out great! I can totally relate to the quick and easy. I have the same issue with my little ones.
Snaz-zay!
I like it. And...the last few years I have also been accused of things not looking like "me" and being girlie too. So I know what you mean. I don't know if it's just because I'm getting older...but girlie is okay with me now (to a certain extent LOL)
I practically just spit out my water from laughing at Claire's comment.
That was VERY funny.
I really like this wreath. Our door is black, so I've been looking for something that stands out. I still want to find/make a wreath in appley green colors. :-)
And I know exactly what you mean about the hurling of a small body to the floor. Oh yes, Maisy is good at that. :-)
