Only a mother could love

Isn't it annoying when people report the funny things their kids do/say? Well, here we go:

Today I heard Ethan saying, "Here comes the God boat. Here comes God!" and craned my neck to see that he was playing with Noah's Ark.

Lately Ethan has been obsessed with superpowers, wanting everything to be Super. I'm not sure where he picked this up but the other day he really wanted a super cape. An old apron did the trick and he began swooping about exclaiming about his superness. Every object he touched became super. "Look at my super cup and my super sandals!" Of course, he demanded parent participation so we gave it our best efforts. Ethan was bubbling with excitement and begged me to go get some sandals for my super toes.

And also, playing with his space ship lately (inspired by recent events?), he exclaims," 1-2-3-4-5....Blas-Tick!"

So..is my life exciting or what?

Could he be related to Lexie the Incredibles fanatic?

She forgot to add that he has begun noticing every fire hydrant we pass, shouting out "Hydrinks!"

Cute.

Which reminds me...

At the last weekend youth convention we had a competition which involved the young people conducting interviews with assigned victims. My team got to interview my grandmother, Mrs. Jewell. One of the questions for them to ask was "If you could have any superpower what would it be?"

Imagine Cara Sandford trying to ask my 98-year old deaf grandmother this question.

"If you could have any superpower..."

"Any what?"

"Superpower!"

"Supertower?"

"No, SUPERPOWER!!!"

It took a long time before she finally got "superpower," and then she hadn't a clue what we meant. So Cara said it was like being able to do something amazing.

Grammie's chosen superpower?

"Oh, I'd type a letter for someone, I guess."

Liane, if you typed superletters with your superfeet maybe you'd be a superhero!

Thanks for reporting the funny thing your kid does/says!! Not annoying at all!

I don't know if I've ever met a child more obsessed with footwear--super or otherwise.

Yeah, you're right! Only a mother could love that boy! That's why I kinda like him too. Don't forget the time that he announced upon your arrival at our house, "I will be leaving SOON!" And that was 6 months ago, people. He really IS bright! =)

Everyone should listen to the song "Superhero" by Stephen Lynch.
