Ethan came down with a pretty nasty cough and fever last week and when I took him in to the doctor's, I learned he had the croup. Immediately I had visions of Anne of Green Gables running through the woods to save Diana's little sister with random phrases like, "Ipecac is an expectorant!!" and, " Don't just sit there Bobby JO, Do something!" tumbling through my mind. After several sleep-deprived nights for us all (more than the usual sleep deprivation), Ethan is finally recovering, even without the help of ipecac.
In other news, I decided to make waffles the other morning and used the wrong appliance. After mixing up the ingredients, I rummaged around in my spacious kitchen for the waffle iron which is pretty small and white. Bang, crash, boom...the sounds a spacious kitchen makes when looking for any kind of kitchen tool... I found a small, white implement which I plugged into the wall and waited for the light to go off, indicating it was hot enough. I opened it up, poured some batter in and noticed nothing strange at all until some of the batter began to pour out and I realized I had just used my George Foreman grill (which, to be fair to my poor brain, is just about the size of my waffle iron)...Maybe the smell of grease as it heated up should have alerted me...oh well.

LOL!!!!! [about the waffles, not Ethan]
glad he is feeling better.
I bet poor George would turn 7 shades of purple if he knew what people used his grill for, eh? hahahahaa...
I'm pretty sure he's already some shade of purple.

Wait a minute- so I wasn't going crazy when I thought the first waffle tasted like beef jerky (but was too polite to say anything).
I'm laughing about the waffle iron. That's great!
Stuart got the croup last winter, and it's about the nastiest sound in the world. Glad Ethan is better.

Wow--sorry about Ethan's croup! Did you have to put him in a hot, steamy bathroom? Did you get to wake up in the "afternoon's more like it"? Hilarious about using the grill for waffles!
Lori--I did try the ol' steamy shower trick and it seemed to help sometimes...
