Remembering

Ethan and I were playing Go Fish a few days ago. This particular version uses letters and when we had finished a round, Ethan requested that I spell out his name with the cards. Lately, his interest in letters and words has really increased. So, after his name, he asked me to spell out mine, then Keith's and finally Drew's. I thought we were done and then he said, "Now, Andrew." As I spelled it out, I wondered if he would specify since there are several Andrews in his life. And he did, all on his own. "The big Andrew." He told me that he remembers Andrew picking him up. Who knows how much of this is video and/or pictures that he's seen but it's nice to know he has some memory of Uncle Andrew.

I know this sounds wacky, but I've been feeling like we need to have a search and rescue operation and BRING ANDREW BACK! Good grief. He's been gone long enough, now??!!! Isn't there something that can be done? Stop hiding Andrew! I hope I haven't offended anyone, but feel like I need to let this out, as illogical as it may sound!

on a different note, thanks for the inspiration to mess with the sidebar stuff. I noticed you'd changed your typical "links", etc, into pix. Good thinking...

As lame as this sounds, Karena, that was not offensive, but expressive and poignant.

Not illogical AT ALL!

I hear he's wearing a bear costume and hiding in the woods somewhere, till the bad guys are foiled.

Thanks for reminding me how much I miss him...which is a good thing.

Thank you Liane, and thanks for posting that beautiful picture too. I'm sure Ethan really does remember Andrew: they seem to have really phenomenal memories at this age.

It reminds me of when Mom took Michael shopping last spring and he picked out some sandals that were "like Andrew's." And when asked to clarify, he said the same thing Ethan did: "big Andrew."

It makes me so happy when they remember.
