Backtack arrivals

Today is red day and the last day of color week although I've enjoyed it so much I thought I might even continue it into the weekend...any suggestions for colors? It's already been mentioned by many of the other participants but I just have to say again that doing this photo-a-day thing has been fun and made me think about color around me a little more.

I love my red teakettle because Andrew gave it to me. He was trying to aid me in my pathetic attempt to create a red theme in my kitchen. It continues to be a bright spot and will remain on my stovetop even when the insides have rusted away completely and it is no longer functional.

On to backtack! I received my package yesterday from my partner in Hawaii! She had led me to believe from emails that she had a bit of a hard time making it and that I shouldn't expect much. Well, I don't know what she was talking about! She did a wonderful job, I thought and it was so much fun to get my own wee bunny. It even came with a name-"Aloha Wee Bunny" and brought some tasty Hawaiian treats! I love the buttons and the way she stitched the letter "L".
Ethan was so excited he wanted to open the package himself, even after I explained that it was something for me. He ran and got some tiny scissors but didn't make much progress. After I opened it he kept exclaiming about the bunny..."I love your bunny, Mama! It is so cool."
At one point, I did see the poor creature gazing wistfully out the window. I think she was wondering what cruel fate had whisked her from beautiful Hawaii to Michigan...Oh well. Thank you so much to my partner for all the work and thought you put into this...I really love it! Thank you also to the organizers of the whole swap for all their work.

And, I also heard from the person who I made for that she had received my package! I made the pointy kitty for her and now I can post some pictures. I had a few problems and the kitty is far from perfect but I did my best. On my third try I finally got the body right. I sent along a few extra goodies but forgot to take pictures of it all. What a fun experience it was...being challenged to make for someone else within a set of pre-determined rules. I'm afraid my kitty wasn't terribly original or "outside the box" like some of the breathtaking creations I've seen but she came out ok. And, when all participants have received their softies, the organizers are going to pick 5 outstanding finalists and we all get to vote on which is the best! The fun never ends...EVER!
Here she is before I sent her off, and of course there's always more on Flickr:
