Preparations

The invitations have been sent out and the anticipation grows daily. Ethan requested a spiderman birthday party which wasn't a big surprise. I did try briefly to convince him to pick a different theme, something that would be a little more fun to work with creatively like, say, robots or astronauts but I didn't push. It is his birthday after all.

Here's another reason I can't resist. Ethan told me a story recently. I can't remember if he said it was a dream or if he was just doing some storytelling but it was quite the tale. He said that he had been playing in the street and was hit by a car. Spiderman saw the disaster and tried to save Ethan but was himself mowed down in the process. They both lay in the street dying. And as they took their last gasps, they both reached out their hands towards each other!
