Introducing...Olive!

I've been so excited about this pattern since it came out a week or two ago. I was one of the stupid people who ordered it and didn't see the "return to merchant" button or take in the fact that it was a PDF file to download online after purchasing it. So...I waited and waited and stalked the mailman for what seemed like forever before finally writing Hillary and finding out my error. Duh. I could have had it all along. LOVED this pattern! Just like all her other patterns, it is simple and clear and satisfying to make.

Although I don't have girls of my own to make it for, I do have two little nieces and I'm trying to make most of my Christmas presents this year, so this project fit right in with my plan. It's my third finished present so far. Whoooohooo! At this rate, I might just beat Helen B!

I'm sure my recipient will not be checking out my blog so I'm not too nervous about spoiling the surprise. I think my Olive looks a little like Charlize Theron from some angles, which was definitely not a look I was going for in a child's plaything. My embroidery skills leave much to be desired. But still, I love it. It's by far my favorite toy creation yet.

Olive Mills perhaps?

Yes, I can see the Theron family resemblance. Nice job! Again- totally baffled/impressed by your ever-more burgeoning craftiness.

Love olive's hair. Perhaps you will be proprietess/seamstress of your own whimsy shop someday. I have a cloth doll my mother made for me when I was a teen. She looks a bit begrimed now (the doll not my mother) as Arthur A. threw her overboard from the Coronet. Gloucester Harbor did not exactly have a laundering effect on her.

I was thinking she looked more like Jenna Elfman myself. Good job, man!

No, she definitely looks like a young Mia Farrow.

Hey, great job! I haven't dabbled much in the fine art of softies, but Hillary's designs make me want to give it a shot. And I'm SOOOOOO uberly jealous that you're already done with Christmas presents. I'm waaaaaaaay behind this year.

Or, as Coach Z would say, " Orlirv."
