Snowbound

For the first time all winter, we had a storm big enough to close school for the day! It was only about six inches but it did the trick. The excitement around here was big.

It turned into a good opportunity to get some valentine crafting done.

On a recent trip to Ikea, I spied these heart molds and figured we could try the whole melting crayon thing again for Drew's preschool class of 12. Drew surprised me by being quite helpful and peeling crayon wrappers with uncharacteristic patience.

I downloaded a set of free valentines from SAJ (she has new ones this year as well), which we labeled and Drew signed. I poked holes in some of the hearts while they were hardening, to make necklaces for the girls. I'm really happy with how they came out.

Of course there was much outside play in the snow. And hot cocoa after the cold.

Or lukewarm cocoa with a straw, if you must.

Wow! What a productive snow day!

Drew's Valentine's will be the envy of the whole class, and the bane of all the un-crafty Moms! Yikes, one more good reason for me to home school ; )

I know, I know...I always used to hate it when other kids would give elaborate gifts for such events.
His class is fairly small at 12 and it just seemed doable this time.

Also, I'm expecting him to come home with diamond-coated chocolates based on my experiences there so far.

Ethan, on the other hand, filled out the ol' store-bought spiderman junk cards for his class of 24.

We did it too! I was a supermom for a day just like you, hooray! We made them for all 3 kids classes!
