Thankful

For the sun doing its happy melting.

For a good friend coming to my rescue with a wonderful, home-cooked meal in spite of her own busy life and obligations (and migraine!). (Thanks, Heidi)

For window markers, a risky purchase which has kept sick boys occupied for good, long stretches of time. The question now is this: do window markers wash out of clothes too?

For antibiotics. Maybe the second type will do the trick for Ethan's never-ending strep.

For advanced technology, NICU doctors and nurses who are fighting for the life of our newest little cousin, Isaiah, born at 23 weeks.

What meds did they have him on before, and which ones now?

They started him off on boring old amoxicillin this past Friday and he seemed to get better at first but his stomach hurt, he had a high fever today and was not at all himself (went to bed right after school yesterday and right after breakfast this morning), so the dr. prescribed Keflex today. She said sometimes different strains of strep respond better to certain antibiotics. We shall see.

Have you started your medical training yet?

Thankful for the sun right along with you...head-height snowbanks begone!!!

Hope Ethan's better soon, and we are praying for Isaiah too.

Yeah, I'm about 5 weeks in. I ask because we just got through a bunch of instruction on antibiotics. Let me know how Keflex works; it's a 1st generation cephalosporin, which is good for mild/moderate strep and more effective against resistant bacteria than the aminopenicillins, but it's not a wide-spectrum antibiotic. Hopefully it clears it up.

How is little Isaiah coming along? I'm sure every single day is very important. Hope he's growing, eating, breathing well with the doctor's help.

I just checked back in with your blog, we had that swim weekend with Johns family. Glad to hear the little guy's name, hoping Isaiah gets healthier and stringer everyday.
