2 Year Blogiversary

"Writing is the best way to talk without being interrupted"-Jules Renard

Two years ago, having recently moved far from home, I decided to give this blogging business a try. It seemed like a good way to keep in touch with friends and family and fight the isolation a little.

My initial hesitations were along the lines of, what do I have to say of any interest to anyone, and how can I possibly manage to survive the criticisms of my live-in editor and English major husband?

Ok, so I'm not that scared of Keith's advice. The annoying thing is that all too often he is actually right. He is one of those less-is-more, say it in one word rather than two, guardians of grammar types. I found the best way to deal with this is to just write a post without asking for his input (although there have been many times I have)and then he is less likely to notice imperfection...because I didn't ask him to. And, more often than not, he gives me positive feedback. This means a lot coming from a stickler.

Not that my blog is really much about the writing. It's sort of turned into a craft show, brag about your kids, photo blog all in one I suppose. But I love the way the blogging world has opened up my life in ways I never could have anticipated. I enjoy keeping in touch with friends old and new, meeting new people and being constantly inspired by the crafting community I spy on.

My blog is one part of my life in which I have a measure of control. In a season of life where I am tripping over spiderman toys and losing the battle to dirt, food and clutter, there is one small space that is my own to organize and rearrange. And it stays the way I left it.

While I occasionally still cringe at a misplaced comma, I mostly marvel at your wit and intelligence. You and I both know how wretched your blog would be if I were in charge of it. Of course there was that time I logged into your account and changed a particularly bad instance of punctuation without telling you...

Uh oh, Keith - I hope you don't read my blog, as I'm the worst "let's throw a comma here for good measure" person ever!
I, too, love, your, blog, Liane!!!

I'd be worried about the misplaced comma thing, but I have Aaron to read my posts before they're published...sometimes at least.

Oh happy day you joined the ranks of blogging, Liane! I have greatly enjoyed it.

I love your blog. I always come with happy anticipation to see what new post there is to enjoy. And I don't remember any punctuation and grammar mistakes that have made me cringe. Maybe Keith got there first. :)
